Quality & Accreditation

Our approach to quality involves all levels of the business from a strategic level with the application of the EFQM (European Foundation Quality Management) to operational level with application of IPC training and value stream mapping. Our philosophy is built around continuous improvement and an emphasis around lean processes in both production and transactional environments. As part of the long term strategic plan AWS is building towards Six Sigma.

In addition AWS also participates in company membership of a range of national and international bodies, for example CQI (Chartered Quality Institute), IPC (Association for connecting Electronic Industries), ADS (Aerospace, Defence & Security).

The accreditations achieved reflect a company operating in a wide number of industry sectors with approvals by FDA, DOD, BABT, UL complementing the individual customer approvals. AWS quality management systems are accredited to AS/EN 9100, ISO 9001 (2000).

AWS has also recognised its role within today’s environmental challenges with the development of environmental policy and practice that has seen it achieve ISO 14001. Additionally the application of ROSH and WEE standards are applied in all our processes.

The results of this approach manifest itself in high levels of customer satisfaction and retention. It has been recognised not only by individual customers with several manufacturing excellence awards but also at an industry level.

AWS has won awards for Manufacturing Excellence & Supplier Quality Performance. In two successive years, 2008 and 2009, AWS was awarded Silver for its Supply Chain Excellence in Defence & Aerospace through the ADS, SC21 programme. In Medical, AWS received Manufacturing Excellence awards from Siemens DPC for its Quality & Delivery to both Europe & North America Siemens sites.
