AWS Electronics awarded AS9100 for Wiring systems and surface mount operations

AWS Electronics, part of AWS Group one of the UK's leading specialist Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) providers, has successfully achieved AS9100 accreditation for its wiring systems and surface mount operations at its Newcastle-under-Lyme facility.
AS9100 is a widely adopted and standardized quality management system for the aerospace industry. AWS identified this sector as one which had the potential for high growth, and in under a year, achieved the prestigious certification. One reason why the company has been able to attain AS9100 so quickly is because the company embraces change management thinking and looks to be involved in continuous improvement programs.
Comments Quality Manager, Alan Yearsley: "AS9100 calls for full traceability and tracking: it's not enough merely to rely on what it says on Certificates of Conformity, they must be thoroughly checked. I see this accreditation - while a significant achievement - as just part of an ongoing quality program. It fits very neatly alongside SC21, the SBAC's Supply Chain program for the 21st Century for which we have already been acknowledged to hold a leadership position. We are now targeting accreditation to J STD 001, the USA's Department of Defense aerospace program, which we will be fully audited for in the near future ."
